Habitat for Humanity RFV Modular Housing Production &

Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility

Habitat for Humanity RFV is partnering with the City of Rifle at the Rifle Energy Innovation Center to build the Modular Production and Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility in the Colorado River Valley. The 10 acres site which Rifle has leased to Habitat for just $10.00 per year for 50 years is located at 2515 Centennial Pkwy on U.S. Highway 6. This parcel is turnkey with existing utilities and infrastructure (gas, water, electric and fiber), along with access to Highway 24 for easy transport of the modules after production. Habitat will commence construction on this 66,000+ sq/ft steel, energy-efficient structure in Q1 of 2025, allowing our modular factory to be up and in production by the summer of 2025. It must be noted that the Modular Production and Education Center has been designated by AGNC as an “Enterprise Zone” project which entitles donors to receive valuable tax credits with their donation to the facility.

The factory layout has been designed to ensure efficiency and flexibility. Displayed in the schematic below, the production line includes 14 stations to be in use on the climate controlled production floor at any given time. These stations provide the capability to alter the size and design of modules to meet our partners project specifications.

Advanced Manufacturing Training

According to the National Center for Construction Research and Education, 41% of the nation’s construction workforce is set to retire by 2031. That is bad news for Western Colorado’s construction workforce, which is rapidly declining at a time when the State needs our construction industry to double housing production just to meet current demand. Colorado will need to grow its construction workforce by over 6% per year to keep up with the current and future demand of the construction industry. Western Colorado communities will not only require a significant percentage of these new units, but also need newfacilities to educate and train this critical workforce. Habitat’s new Modular Housing Education and Production Center will be the new facility built in Western Colorado to answer that challenge.

That is why Habitat for Humanity RFV is proud to announce our partnership with the Colorado River BOCES and Colorado Mountain College (CMC) to train and certify a local workforce in these advanced technical and manufacturing skills. Habitat for Humanity RFV will provide advanced technical training and support on our factory floor as well as classroom space for educating up to 100 high school and post-graduate students per year, giving them unprecedented access to the most advanced construction techniques and equipment with an emphasis on net-zero, all electric, sustainable modular construction, which is critical to our affordable housing future.

Creating Quality Jobs on the Western Slope

Once fully operational, Habitat for Humanity RFV will employ an estimated 64 FTE Coloradoans in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys. Over 60% of those positions will be manufacturing jobs with an average hourly rate of $36.93/hour. Habitat for Humanity RFV will also offer full health benefits and 401k benefits to all employees.

Let me be clear; we will never meet the entire need. But by creating this state-of-the-art modular production and education facility in the Western Slope, our objective is to develop affordable housing with as many working families as possible. These are hardworking individuals who contribute significantly to our community, yet find themselves unable to afford a home or even rent where they live and work. By supporting these families, we believe we will not only provide them with the stability they need but also strengthen the entire Western Colorado community.

We need your help!

While our $16.6M Modular Home Production and Advanced Manfufacturing Training Facility has generated an incredible level of support, we still need to raise an additional $5.1M to be in production by Q2 of 2025.

The homes that are produced in this facility will stabilize housing for essential members of our community who make a difference in our daily lives as educators, first responders, hospital staff, other vital workforce professions, and our retired older adults. This is your opportunity to give these families not just a place they can raise children, pets, and gardens, but the peace of mind to establish roots in the community they serve or have served.

Your gift will directly support:

- The construction of the facility, that will have long-term community impact

- A workforce training program

- With our net-zero modules, their will be minimal utility costs

- Most importantly, your gift will promote and inspire fulfillment in the lives of these homeowners, which in turn translates into the health and happiness they give back to all of us as fellow Western Colorado neighbors.

We are ready to discuss grant opportunities, gifts from donor advised funds, stock transfers, monetary gifts, and more! This is a Enterprise Zone Contribution Project - click below to learn about the potential tax benefits, include Colorado state tax credits.
