Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley is launching a new visionary giving campaign alongside leaders of the real estate community in our region called: Sell a Home, Help Build a Home. This campaign creates an opportunity for real estate agents and their clients to donate a percentage of each home sale to Habitat for Humanity RFV towards building affordable homes in our community for working families and seniors. We are engaged in thoughtful conversations with the broker community to shape and support this new campaign. This 

voluntary commitment to donate to Habitat for Humanity RFV is a way for the real estate community to impact the local affordable housing crisis directly. This coalition of real estate agents has committed to donating 1% of their net sales commission to the cause for at least a year (a cumulative minimum of $250 is required). The campaign will continue to build momentum for years to come, and we intend to track the campaign’s progress and accomplishments along the way. 

There is a unique benefit for donors of this program - REALTORS®, buyers, and sellers alike - each donation can be eligible for Enterprise Zone tax credit and charitable deductions. The State of Colorado’s Enterprise Zone designation for our development projects provides significant tax benefits for monetary gifts over $250. Donations to Habitat For Humanity RFV are unique in that 100% of the donation goes directly to the cost of the building because operational costs are already covered by sales at the ReStore in Glenwood Springs. 

We are currently recruiting our founding participants, called “Groundbreakers” to launch this campaign. This is an ongoing campaign, we will continue to welcome all new sign-ups to help combat the affordable housing crisis. We have developed a unique benefit package for agents committed to participating. Agents will be able to utilize the campaign logo package in their personal marketing. Additionally, Habitat for Humanity RFV will provide periodic public recognition to those participating through marketing and social media as being real estate industry leaders in addressing the unprecedented housing shortage. The goal of the 1% campaign is to provide local real estate broker with significant marketing and financial benefits that not only encourage individual, voluntary giving but also create recognizable brand brokers who can stand and rally behind. Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley will recognize your contributions through their marketing program. We are in the process of developing a package of benefits for committed participants from the real estate community. 

Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley's net revenue from the ReStore operation covers the affiliate's overhead expenses, which means that all donations go directly toward building homes. Additionally, Habitat has been awarded Enterprise Zone status for their current housing projects, which means a large part of your donation comes back to you through charitable deductions and a Colorado income tax credit, significantly reducing the after-tax cost of donations. 

This will allow brokers to generate custom social media posts, newspaper ads, branding, and content for newsletters. Use standards for the campaign logo will be provided. The standard copy will provide an informational starting point for you to add on to or embellish to your liking to supplement whatever content you wish to share regarding the campaign.

All 1% donors will be added to an email list of partners where emails will be periodically sent out to help our partners better understand the crisis our region is experiencing and the impact that this group is making. We will include information about Habitat for Humanity developments, stories of our homeowners, volunteer opportunities, as well as campaign progress. 

This will allow brokers to show their philanthropic efforts to their clients and other colleagues. Branding together a group of dedicated brokers in our community will allow clients who value philanthropic aspects to have a respectable list of brokers to choose from. We look forward to continuing to group these branding opportunities through this partnership.
