25 Years of Building Affordable Homes

Habitat RFV is working tirelessly to create affordable homeownership solutions. Habitat RFV has built over 66 homes in the past 25 years and intends to complete another 40 homes within the next two years. Through innovative technologies Habitat RFV has been able to increase construction speed to ensure that more of the workforce in our community have a decent place to live. Habitat RFV builds affordable, net-zero homes that are affordable to buy and affordable to maintain.

In 1999, our affiliate began building one home at a time with a group of volunteers. In 2018 we ramped up construction and built Basalt Vista, a 27 net-zero home neighborhood. None of this would be possible without our partners and supporters over the past 25 years. We look forward to celebrating this great achievement with all of your over the next year!

Give $25 in Honor of 25 Years

As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley, we reflect on the incredible impact that we have been able to make with support from community members like you. To continue to push forward creating solutions to the affordable housing crisis, we invite you to join us in contributing $25 in honor of our 25 years of working alongside workforce families in our region.

Your generosity will allow us to continue to partner with workforce families and make the dream of homeownership a reality. Together, we can continue to innovate, to make an even greater impact, in the next 25 years. You can give at the ReStore, or donate online today. Thank you for your continued support!

Why Donate to Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley?

There is a misconception about whether Habitat homes are given away, these homes that Habitat RFV builds are not given away, they are purchased by the homeowners at affordable prices. Habitat homeowners purchase their home through a 30 - 38 year mortgage with an affordable monthly payment as well as HOA dues. Each home is deed restricted to ensure that these homes will always be afforable. Each homeowner gives 250 hours of sweat equity hours working along side the Habitat RFV Construction and ReStore teams.

When you help a family buy a home they can afford, it can set off a chain reaction of positive opportunities. It means they can budget more easily, and save for things like going back to school or health care expenses. Children who have a stable home also do better in school and enjoy better health. The chance to build equity that can be passed from one generation to the next is a pathway to greater self-determination for today’s children.

When you give over $250 you towards one of our three eligible developments, you are eligible for Enterprise Zone Tax credit. You can designate your donation towards Wapiti Commons in Rifle, The Confluence in Glenwood Springs, or the Modular Facility in Rifle. For more information please contact your accountant.

Donate to Help Homeowners like Karla

Before buying a Habitat for Humanity home, Karla lived with her two small children in a concrete-floored garage, paying $850 monthly. Her daughter is three and her son is 12. They had a single bed, a toilet, a small sink, a small fridge, and a single burner to cook on. There were no windows to provide light, and temperature regulation was non-existent.

Karla is a local banker and an essential, hard-working community member. As a single mother, Karla does everything she can to provide for her children. No mother wants to live in this situation but unfortunately these are the housing options that were available for her to make ends meet. However, this is not where Karla's story ends! Karla has moved into her beautiful new townhome with three bedrooms and two bathrooms for her children to grow and flourish.

This story is so encouraging and with your support we are able to help more workforce families in our community enter homeownership. The affordable housing crisis in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys has put a burden on the region's employees, institutions, and businesses. Habitat RFV needs your help to find solutions for our community who deserperately needs affordable housing solutions.
