What your Financial Gift does for Habitat for Humanity Roaring Fork Valley

While our official mission is to “build affordable homes in partnership with families in need of a hand-up, not a hand-out,” our true mission extends far beyond house construction.  We’re highly invested in our Roaring Fork Valley community, and we aim to support it in as many ways as we can.

It is more common than we realize to see a local family forced out of the valley due to lower-than-usual wages and a high cost of living. Each financial donation you make, no matter the amount, means one more step closer to keeping our community cohesive through homeownership, sustainability, and stability for more local families.

Donations for Tax Deductions

While it is often not the dominant motivation for Habitat for Humanity donors, receiving tax deductions for your donations can’t be denied as a perk. And if that’s the motivation you need, we’re all for it! Your financial gifts keep us — and therefore our community — humming.

Direct Donations

By donating directly to Habitat for Humanity, you’re supporting the community almost immediately. There’s no red tape to navigate, no approvals nor official distributions to await. With the middlemen cut out, more funds are available for productive projects versus the administrative management of endless steps.

Provide Materials

Perhaps Habitat for Humanity is most frequently associated with the actual act of house-building and as a fun place for volunteering; however, financial gifts provide the literal foundation with which a home is built. A donation of $50 buys a gallon of paint. A gift of $100 buys a kitchen sink. A $1,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity purchases an entire home’s lighting package. A donation of $5,000 purchases the roof for a family. When you donate to Habitat for Humanity financially, you’re ensuring we have the means to make the magic happen.

Keep Our Teachers

One way we’re supporting the community is by creating affordable housing for local teachers and essential personnel. Our collaboration with Pitkin County and the Roaring Fork School District will provide 27 new affordable homes behind Basalt High School.  The huge gap between local resort area housing costs and low actual wages is the reason we‘ve frequently lost local teachers and other professionals who can’t afford to live where they work. When you donate $100 to Habitat for Humanity to “buy a brick,” you’ll be able to dedicate a brick in the new Basalt Vista Pavilion, and the funds will go directly into new homes being built for our valued local personnel.

Give and Get

Another way to contribute financially is to purchase something from our Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We typically receive three truckloads of donated items every weekday, along with daily drop-offs from local donors.  Our Roaring Fork Valley ReStore 2.0 in Glenwood Springs opened with minimal overhead costs in January 2017, so the majority of the sales proceeds from our ReStore go right into funding current and future housing projects. Every sale means funds funneled to support the community. You get something useful for your home, and we get the proceeds to funnel towards our local community-supporting projects.

Make Your Donation to Habitat for Humanity

We’ve set up an online donation form through WePay so that your Habitat for Humanity donations can be quick and easy. The last thing we want to do is frustrate our generous contributors! Our donation form allows you to choose a flat amount, recurring payments, or a pledge with installments. We also provide options to allow anonymous donations and hidden amounts.

Feel free to contact us with any questions — we’re always happy to help!
