Habitat for Humanity RFV is Creating Real Solutions

Habitat RFV is working tirelessly to build net-zero, affordable homes with local workforce families, creating solutions to the affordable housing crisis. Habitat RFV has built over 60 homes in the past 22 years and intends to complete another 40 homes within the next two years. Through innovative technologies Habitat RFV has been able to increase construction speed to ensure that more of the workforce in our community have a decent place to live. Habitat RFV builds affordable, net-zero homes that are affordable to buy and affordable to maintain.

There is a misconception about whether Habitat homes are given away, these homes that Habitat RFV builds are not given away, they are a hand up NOT, not a hand out. Habitat homes are purchased by the homeowners at affordable prices through a 30 - 38 year low interest mortgages with an affordable monthly payment as well as HOA dues. Each home is deed restricted to ensure that these homes will always be afforable. Each homeowner gives 250 hours of sweat equity hours working along side the Habitat RFV Construction and ReStore teams.

When you help a family buy a home they can afford, it can set off a chain reaction of positive opportunities. It means they can budget more easily, and save for things like going back to school or health care expenses. Children who have a stable home also do better in school and enjoy better health. The chance to build equity that can be passed from one generation to the next is a pathway to greater self-determination for today’s children.

When you give over $250 you towards one of our three eligible developments, you are eligible for Enterprise Zone Tax credit. You can designate your donation towards Wapiti Commons in Rifle, The Confluence in Glenwood Springs, or the Modular Facility in Rifle. For more information please contact your accountant.

Volunteer at the ReStore

The ReStore is a key part of how Habitat builds affordable homes with local workforce families and individuals. The ReStore is perfect for those who enjoy being creative with retail and helpful to customers.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are willing to put in hard work to help our ReStore flourish. Our volunteers help move furniture, load and unload trucks, clean, and much more. If you are looking for a day full of rewarding hard work, the ReStore is the place for you! Short- and long-term volunteer opportunities are available.

No retail experience is required to volunteer in our store, just a desire to have some fun with our team and to help serve our valued guests.

To learn more and sign up to volunteer, call David at (970) 945-9138 and click the 5th option when prompted.

Volunteer at the Build Site

When you volunteer in construction, you’ll see changes in the house, changes in the surrounding neighborhood, and changes within yourself. If that sounds like a great way to spend a day (or two, or three), we’d love to talk with you about how to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley.

We welcome individual volunteers, as well as groups of all kinds. Spending a day or even a few hours helping others can be a great team-building activity for a group from your workplace, church, family, club, or civic organization. And volunteering isn’t just good for others—as it turns out, it’s pretty healthy for you also.

We’re excited to see you! To learn more and sign up to volunteer, email Volunteer@HabitatRoaringFork.org
