Gail Schwartz Named President of Habitat RFV
On February 18, 2020 it was announced that former state senator and Willits resident Gail Schwartz would be appointed as interim president of Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley. On March 25th, just as we started to feel the impact of COVID-19, Gail officially stepped into the role of President.
Over the past weeks, Gail has worked tirelessly with our team to not only get up to speed on “normal” operations, but also to provide steady leadership as we’ve had to adjust to the rapidly changing safety requirements of our state and local governments. These requirements have led us to shutting down our Basalt Vista Affordable Housing Community jobsite as well as our brick and mortar ReStore until further notice.
The good news is that Gail and the team have stood up a Virtual ReStore that is attracting shoppers and donors alike. (Photo features Gail, front right, with the ReStore team social distancing before face masks became a requirement.) And while the jobsite remains closed, prep work for the next phase of our Basalt Vista homes is taking place at our ReStore location (following the latest safety guidelines).
Gail is laser focused on continuing the work of Habitat through this crisis by supporting our community of staff, families, partners, donors and the Valley community-at-large. Her sincere belief is that, together, we can emerge stronger than ever.
If you would like to support our Habitat RFV family, please consider shopping at, or donating to, our Virtual ReStore. And if it’s possible for you, financial gifts are much appreciated.
