Habitat partners with Olde Towne Moving & Storage

Olde Towne Moving & Storage named “Official Mover” of Habitat for Humanity

Local non-profit partners with Olde Towne Moving & Storage for pick up and delivery service of donated items for Habitat ReStore.

Roaring Fork Valley, CO, May 1, 2008 – Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley has partnered with Olde Towne Moving & Storage for the pick up of donated items for their ReStore. The moving and storage company, named the “Official Mover” of Habitat, has generously donated their services for picking up donated items and offers Habitat ReStore customers a discount on the delivery of large items purchased at the ReStore. The Habitat ReStore, located between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale in the Cattle Creek Center off of Highway 82, sells gently used furniture, appliances, building supplies and home décor.

According to LeAnna Atkinson, Habitat’s ReStore manager, “Our partnership with Olde Towne Moving & Storage is indicative of the support this community has shown to Habitat. Thanks to the generosity of Olde Towne, we are saving tens of thousands of dollars per year on transportation costs and we are able to offer our customers pick up and delivery service that no other thrift store in the valley can offer.”

Eric Hunter, partner with Olde Towne Moving & Storage adds, “Working with Habitat is a perfect way for us to give back to the community. Habitat for Humanity is a great cause and our partnership allows Habitat to put more of their profits from the ReStore back into building affordable homes in the community, rather than paying for transportation costs.”

In addition to the significant cost savings to the non-profit, this partnership offers a considerable environmental benefit. After delivering a job for a paying customer, Olde Towne uses the return trip to pick up donations for Habitat, rather than sending out an empty truck to do so. This method of using an “empty leg” for Habitat donations not only cuts down on fuel costs for Olde Towne, but also conserves countless gallons of fuel in the process.

Habitat accepts donations of good, reusable furniture, appliances, building supplies and home décor during business hours at the ReStore location. To schedule a donation pick up, please contact LeAnna Atkinson at 963-8555 or via email at [ email ].
